Ellen's Dolls has been in business since 1991; 22 wonderful years.
What is your primary product or service?
Ellen's Dolls sells collectible and play dolls.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Many years ago I owned a flower shop and found I especially enjoyed the gift lines we added to go with new baby arrangements, stuffed bears, little dolls and toys. Later the shop was sold, and I started looking for a gift shop. I happened upon one that included some collectible dolls. I was amazed at the way dolls had progressed from the dolls I had as a child and just fell in love with the artistry and life-like quality of the dolls. I knew this was the product for me, one that I was passionate about and wanted to share with others. So I started a doll business part-time which progressed from doll shows to a shared co-op, then to my own store and finally my website. Though we no longer operate a retail store, my online doll shop continues to be a labor of joy providing beautiful dolls to my customers. It is a thrill every time a customer receives their order and I hear that they love the dolls as much as I do.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Selling dolls over the website, I differentiate my business in the following ways. Ellen's Dolls offers a large variety of collectible and play dolls so there is something for everyone whether buying for their own collection, giving a gift to another doll lover, or purchasing a quality play doll for their children. Our website is attractive, our prices are competitive, fast shipping is a priority, and we offer a very good return policy.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one website, www.ellensdolls.com. As we are intenet only, our plans to expand consist of continually improving our website to keep it customer friendly, offering the latest dolls in the lines we currently carry, and adding new lines where customer demand warrants.
